“Your life is a marketplace. You’re purchasing something every minute of your day. You better be happy with your purchase, because there are no returns in this market." - Original to Chris Smith

There are few areas of practice that allow you to step into the shoes of a client who can't keep going on their own without your help. I'm proud to be recognized as a Martindale Hubbell AV Preeminent attorney due to it being peer-reviewed and ethics and professionalism are critical to the review process.

I'm proud of the cases I've settled just as much as the cases I've tried, because the most important aspect of what I do is to work to facilitate the best life after the divorce that I can for the client. That often requires a parent to coexist with their ex, which requires that as counsel I don't create a worse situation than originally existed without my involvement. I also recognize that I'm meeting a client when they are faced with what is likely the worst event they have ever faced, and they're looking to me for answers and guidance. I take that position very seriously and want to be empathetic to every client so that they quickly realize they are going to get through this period in their life and will be okay on the other side.

I love nothing more than to see a client reconcile with their ex, because I know I represented that client in a way that didn't get in the way; however, I also love hearing appreciation for my advocacy work on behalf of a good parent who faces losing a relationship with their children. It is only in family law that you get the opportunity to see how you work touches lives in such a direct and emotional way, which is why I love it.
